Laramie, WY -- (Sports Network) - Dax Crum threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns, as the Wyoming Cowboys held off the Ohio University Bobcats, 21-20, in the season opener at War Memorial Stadium. It was an up-and-down debut for the juco transfer, who also threw a pair of interceptions. Devin Moore carried 25 times for 82 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys (1-0). Taylor Price was solid in defeat for OU (0-1), catching 14 passes for 139 yards. Scott Theo got the Bobcats on the board first with a four-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Mooney at the 5:49 mark of the first quarter. Wyoming answered with a 10-play, 51-yard drive that resulted in a six-yard touchdown run by Moore. The Cowboys then put together an 11-play, 61-yard drive on their next possession, capped by Crum's three-yard touchdown pass to Jesson Salyards. But OU's Donte Harden returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, knotting the score at 14 apiece. Kicker Barrett Way gave the Bobcats a 17-14 lead on a 31-yard field goal with 4:31 remaining in the first half. After a scoreless third quarter, Way kicked a 34-yarder through the uprights to make it a 20-14 game with 13:40 to play. That's when Crum and the Wyoming offense went to work. They marched 84 yards in 13 plays, with Crum finding Donate Morgan for a 23-yard scoring strike to put the Cowboys ahead, 21-20 with 7:28 to play. Wyoming safety Quincy Rogers intercepted Theo on OU's next possession, and the Cowboys held on from there. OU was penalized 12 times for a total of 125 yards, including two 15-yard facemasking penalties that extended Wyoming's final drive.
