McGee Helps Aggies Rout Montana State

POSTED: 10:52 pm EDT September 1, 2007

(Sports Network) - Stephen McGee ran for 121 yards and two scores as 25th-ranked Texas A&M routed Montana State, 38-7.

McGee carried the ball nine times while he went 10-for-20 with 112 yards passing for the Aggies (1-0), who have won 21 straight home openers. Mike Goodson had 10 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Jack Rolovich went 21-for-39 for 267 yards and a touchdown while Josh Lewis had five receptions for 86 yards for the Bobcats (0-1).

The Bobcats scored on their first possession of the game as they marched the ball 83 yards in 13 plays, capped off when Rolovich found Elliott Barnhart for an eight-yard touchdown reception and a 7-0 lead with 9:44 left in the first.

However, the Aggies answered with three straight scores to take the lead into the locker room.

On the ensuing kickoff, Kerry Franks returned the ball 47 yards to put his team at the Montana State 47. On the first play of the drive, McGee hooked up with Goodson for a 23-yard reception, but the drive stalled at the 17-yard line and a 34-yard field goal from Matt Szymanski made it a 7-3 contest.

After stopping the Bobcats on their next possession, Texas A&M got the ball back and on the second play of the drive McGee busted a 65-yard touchdown run for a 10-7 lead with 3:31 left in the first.

The Aggies took a 17-7 lead in the second quarter. A 34-yard run from Goodson on 3rd-and-1 brought the ball into Montana State territory and on a 3rd-and-1 play from the two-yard line Jorvorskie Lane punched the ball into the end zone.

Texas A&M made it a 24-7 game as the team took the opening possession of the second half on a five-play, 57-yard drive capped off by a 18-yard touchdown run from Goodson just 1:40 into the third.

McGee's second touchdown of the game, a three-yard run just 23 seconds into the fourth quarter, gave the Aggies a 31-7 advantage.

Jerrod Johnson's 17-yard touchdown pass to Terrence McCoy with just 1:20 to play accounted for the final score of the contest.
