NCAA Game Summary - Cincinnati At Connecticut

POSTED: 5:29 pm EDT October 25, 2008

(Sports Network) - Donald Brown rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Connecticut Huskies to a 40-16 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats in a Big East tussle at Rentschler Field.

Brown also caught four passes for 58 yards for UConn (6-2, 2-1 BigEast), but quarterback Cody Endres struggled, completing just 18-of-42 passes for 196 yards.

Tony Pike struggled under center for Cincy (5-2, 1-1), completing just 10- of-27 throws for 136 yards and one score. Pike also tossed an interception and was sacked twice.

The Bearcats got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter with a 29-yard field goal by Jake Rogers.

UConn countered with a field goal of its own, as Dave Teggart nailed a 26-yard kick midway through the frame.

The Huskies took over the lead minutes later with a two-yard touchdown run by Brown.

It did not take long for Cincy to even the score, as Pike connected with Mardy Gilyard for a 27-yard scoring strike late in the first quarter.

Points were tougher to come by in the second stanza, as the only score change came off the foot of Rogers, who connected on a 54-yard field goal, giving the Bearcats a slim 13-10 lead at the break.

The Huskies struck first in the second half when Jordan Todman plunged into the end zone from one yard out, giving UConn a 17-13 edge.

Cincy cut its deficit to 17-16 with a 22-yard field goal by Rogers midway through the third frame.

However, the Huskies took over from there, as the team scored the final 23 points of the contest, beginning with a 47-yard field goal by Teggart.

Teggart added a 32 and 22 yard field goal in the final frame, and those kicks were followed by a five-yard touchdown run by Brown.

UConn finished the Bearcats off when Robert McClain returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown in the final two minutes of the contest.
