POSTED: 12:06 am EST November 8, 2007

(Sports Network) - Alex Allen ran for 96 yards and three touchdowns, and Bryan Williams returned a kickoff 95 yards for another score, as Akron beat Ohio University, 48-37, in a Mid-American Conference battle at the Rubber Bowl.

Chris Jacquemain completed 14-of-23 passes for 197 yards with a pair of TDs and an interception for the Zips (4-6, 3-3 MAC), who snapped a three-game skid. Jabari Arthur caught eight passes for 129 yards and a score.

Brad Bower connected on 17-of-37 passes for 239 yards with three touchdowns for the Bobcats (5-6, 3-4 MAC), who had a two-game winning streak broken. Kalvin McRae ran for 109 yards and a score in the loss.

Bower hit Andrew Mooney with an 11-yard scoring pass with 8:13 left in the game, drawing Ohio within 34-31.

However, Akron immediately went 71 yards in nine plays, with the drive capped by Jacquemain's 22-yard TD toss to Kris Kasparek with 3:35 left.

Ohio then turned the ball over on downs, and Allen ran 30 yards to get the Zips to the 10, and later scored from a yard out on 3rd-and-goal to ice the victory with 37 seconds left.

Bower hit Mooney with another 11-yard scoring strike on the game's final play.

Michael Braunstein kicked three field goals for Ohio, and his 34-yarder made it 3-0 three minutes into the game, but Williams returned the ensuing kickoff the distance.

McRae then scored on a 54-yard run, and after Igor Iveljic booted a 48-yard field goal to close the scoring in the first, Braunstein split the uprights from 43 yards early in the second.

Allen scored from a yard out before Iveljic's field goal had Akron ahead 20-13 at the half.

Allen scored from two yards away in the third, and after another Braunstein field goal, Jacquemain hit Arthur with a 32-yard TD toss.

Taylor Price's 36-yard TD catch drew Ohio within 34-24 going into the fourth.
