(Sports Network) - Pittsburgh junior forward Sam Young will forgo the NBA Draft and return for his senior season, he announced Friday.

Young was the Panthers' leading scorer this past season with 18.1 points per game, and also set the school's single-season scoring record (668 points). He helped lead Pitt to a 27-10 record, Big East Tournament title and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

"In discussing my options the last couple of weeks with coach (Jamie) Dixon and my family, I feel that it is in my best interest to return to Pitt for my senior year," Young said. "With the players we have returning to the team, we have an opportunity to accomplish something special next year. I can't wait to get the season started."
