GAME NOTES: The Texas A&M Aggies will try to remain perfect on the season when they host the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks this evening as part of the South Padre Invitational at Reed Arena. The Seahawks exploded out of the gates this season, winning their first two matchups, but since then the team has hit a bump in the road, losing back-to-back games. The last time UNCW was on the court the team suffered a terrible, 83-64 setback to Kent State. The Seahawks are 0-2 on the road this season, and since last year the team has lost 11 of its last 16 games away from home. As for the Aggies, they have been flawless this season, winning all three of their contests to open the new campaign. The last time Texas A&M was on the court the team grabbed a convincing, 96-78 victory over Jackson State. Texas A&M has been outstanding at home over the past five years, posting a tremendous 70-10 ledger at Reed Arena. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the hardwood.

The Seahawks have been unable to stop anyone thus far, as the team is surrendering a whopping 99.8 ppg. Opponents are shooting a tremendous 49.2 percent from the field against UNCW, and are also outrebounding the Seahawks by 10.4 rpg. Fortunately the Seahawks have been able to excel offensively, as Johnny Wolf is leading the team with 21.8 ppg. Chad Tomko is next in line with 21.5 ppg, while Dominique Lacy is manning the paint, contributing 17.0 ppg to go along with 9.8 rpg. The last time UNCW was on the court the team did not perform well at the offensive end of the floor, shooting just 37.3 percent, while netting only 5-of-22 attempts from long range. The poor showing led to the 19-point loss to Kent State. Tomko paced the team with 19 points, while Wolf added 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Josh Sheets added 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench.

The Aggies' quick start is due to the team's ability to shut down an opponent at the offensive end of the floor. Texas A&M is currently limiting teams to just 57.7 ppg, while holding them to a pathetic 34.9 percent shooting effort. The Aggies have not been overwhelming on offense, but head into this game with Josh Carter pacing the team with 19.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Bryan Davis is contributing 15.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg, while Donald Sloan rounds out the double- figure scorers with 14.0 ppg. Texas A&M put forth a strong showing in the recent win over Jackson State, as the Aggies shot 47.8 percent from the floor, while also connecting on 11-of-25 attempts from behind the arc. Carter paced the team with 25 points, while Sloan added 17 points. Davis contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Chinemelu Elonu tallied 10 points to go along with nine boards.

There is no question the Seahawks can post points, but UNCW has been dreadful defensively, and until the team can fix those cracks, it will be tough for the Seahawks to find the win column consistently.

Predicted Outcome

Texas A&M 74, UNC-Wilmington 66
