GAME NOTES: The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks will try to remain perfect on the season when they host the Troy Trojans this evening in a non-conference matchup at Trask Coliseum. The Trojans did not have much success in their season-opener, as the team was pummeled by UAB, 87-66. Troy is coming off a rough season in which the team collected just 12 overall wins, including just four in league play. After this contest the Trojans will head to Baton Rouge to participate in the LSU Thanksgiving Tournament. As for the Seahawks, they needed overtime in their season-opener, but the team was able to grab a thrilling, 108-101 win over Appalachian State. It was a tremendous victory for UNCW, which lost four seniors from last year's team that won 20 games, while posting a 13-7 ledger in league play. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Seahawks and Trojans on the hardwood.

The Trojans' season began with a whimper instead of a bang, as the team shot a poor 34.5 percent from the floor, and a much worse 17.6 percent from behind the arc. The poor shooting performance led to the 19-point loss to UAB. Chris Leggett was the only player to finish with double-figures as the forward came off the bench to post 12 points in just 15 minutes of work. Travis Lee and Mario Telfair both contributed nine points apiece, but Lee shot just 3-of-11 from the field in the contest. Richard Delk also struggled from the floor, netting just 3-of-12 attempts en route to a six point showing.

The Seahawks lost their top four scorers from a year ago, but that did not stop the team from scoring 109 points in their overtime victory against Appalachian State. UNCW shot a decent 44.3 percent from the floor, while connecting on 12-of-35 three-point attempts, and 26-of-36 foul shots. The Seahawks, who only committed 11 turnovers in the contest and forced the Mountaineers into a whopping 28 miscues. Chad Tomko, who is the top returning scorer from last year (8.6 ppg), paced the team with 27 points and also grabbed five rebounds. Johnny Wolf added 27 points as well, while Dominique Lacy contributed 23 points to go along with nine boards. Kevon Moore was the top option off the bench, as the guard tallied 12 points in just 20 minutes of action.

The Trojans was unsuccessful defensively against UAB, and that could spell trouble for Troy this evening against UNCW. The Seahawks exploded in their opener, and will likely continue their hot shooting against Troy.

Predicted Outcome

UNC-Wilmington 89, Troy 72
