NCAA Game Summary - Appalachian State At UNC-Wilmington

POSTED: 11:44 pm EST November 14, 2008

(Sports Network) - Chad Tomko and Johnny Wolf both scored 27 points apiece to lead the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks to a thrilling, 108-101 overtime victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a non-conference battle at the Trask Coliseum.

Dominique Lacy added 23 points and nine boards for UNCW (1-0), while Kevon Moore contributed 12 points off the bench.

Donald Sims led the way for Appalachian State (0-1), scoring 24 points in the setback. Eduardo Bermudez and Kellen Brand tallied 18 and 15 points, respectively, while Josh Hunter and Isaac Butts chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds apiece.

The Mountaineers shot a strong 53.1 percent from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a commanding, 51-37 advantage.

However, the Seahawks stormed back in the second stanza, shooting 53.7 percent from the field, and eventually tied the game at 96 apiece on Tomko's three- point basket with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Unfortunately the Mountaineers ran cold in the extra session, netting just 1- of-7 shots from the field, while the Seahawks connected on 7-of-10 foul shots en route to the seven-point win.

The Seahawks committed just 11 turnovers in the contest, while forcing Appalachian State into 28 miscues.
