NCAA Game Summary - Liberty At UNC-Asheville

POSTED: 4:19 pm EST November 18, 2008

(Sports Network) - J.P. Primm scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added seven assists to lead the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs to an 84-56 victory over the Liberty Flames.

Sean Smith made 5-of-6 three-point attempts en route to a 17-point effort, and had six boards for the Bulldogs (3-0), who shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor.

Reid Augst contributed 13 points for UNC-Asheville, while John Williams and Quinard Jackson each added 10.

Seth Curry -- the son of former NBA player Dell Curry, and brother of Davidson standout Stephen -- led Liberty (1-1) with 18 points. Anthony Smith ended with 13 points for the Flames, who began their season on Friday with a win over Montreat.

A nine-point burst, punctuated by a Jackson layup, gave UNCA a 24-10 edge with just under nine minutes left in the first half. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on and led 39-19 after a Smith three with about five minutes remaining, and took a 49-30 advantage into halftime.

Just short of the midway point of the second half, a Primm triple put UNCA up 67-40, and the Bulldogs cruised to the finish from there.
