Indiana G Crawford To Transfer

POSTED: 7:52 pm EDT June 11, 2008

(Sports Network) - Indiana point guard Jordan Crawford continued the exodus of players from the school, disclosing Wednesday that he plans to transfer.

Crawford, who started eight games as a freshman last season, averaged 9.7 points and, to this point, would have been the team's leading returning scorer.

The roster has been depleted and leaves the Hoosiers with only two players returning from last season - forward Kyle Taber and walk-on guard Brett Finkelmeier.

A total of 11 players have left the team since the end of the season. Last month, new Indiana coach Tom Crean informed suspended guards Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis that they would not be reinstated to the basketball team. Both players were suspended last season for violation of team rules. Eric Gordon, who just completed his freshman season, declared for the NBA Draft.

Crean took over a program that faces NCAA sanctions in the wake of violations under Kelvin Sampson's watch last season. Sampson was forced to resign in February in the wake of NCAA accusations of five rules violations.
