NCAA Game Summary - Clemson At Illinois

(Sports Network) - Demontez Stitt posted 18 points and six assists and the Clemson Tigers slipped past the Illinois Fighting Illini, 76-74, as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at Assembly Hall.

Stitt finished the game 8-of-11 from the field and with four steals for the Tigers (8-0), who earned their fifth consecutive victory in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Trevor Booker turned in 16 points and eight rebounds, while Raymond Sykes and K.C. Rivers contributed 14 points apiece.

Mike Davis led Illinois (6-1) and all scorers with a career-high 28 points and eight rebounds. Demetri McCamey had 20 points and Chester Frazier handed out a game-high 12 assists in the losing effort.

Illinois connected on 55.9 percent of its field goal tries in the opening half, as it raced out to a 40-32 lead at the break.

Clemson came out strong in the second half and shot a blazing 63.3 percent from the floor to capture the two-point win. The Illini had a chance to tie the game, but it failed to get off a shot in the closing moments.

The Tigers forced Illinois into 17 turnovers, scoring 26 points off those miscues in the victory.
