NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Michigan At St. John's

(Sports Network) - D.J. Kennedy scored 16 points and collected six rebounds, leading the St. John's Red Storm to a 73-61 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Carnesecca Arena.

Justin Burrell tallied 14 points to go with six rebounds in the St. John's (4-1) win, while Malik Boothe contributed 11 points and dished out six assists. Paris Horne chipped in 10 points for the Red Storm.

The duo of Justin Dobbins and Brandon Bowdry netted 13 points apiece to lead Eastern Michigan (1-4), while Branden Harrison scored 12 points off the bench for the Eagles. L.J. Frazier added 11 points in the loss.

The Eagles were held to just 36-percent shooting from the floor in the first half, and St. John's capitalized to take a 37-25 advantage into the break.

The Red Storm knocked down 14-of-29 from the field during the second stanza to lock up the 12-point victory.

EMU converted just 37.9 percent of its field goals in the loss, including 5- of-18 from three-point range. The Eagles also shot a rather pedestrian 63.2 percent from the foul line.
