GAME NOTES: A fifth place finish is on the line this afternoon, as the East Tennessee State Buccaneers take on the Hofstra Pride on the final day of the Charleston Classic. The Bucs found themselves in the losers bracket of this eight-team, three-day tournament following a 79-65 loss to Temple on Friday. ETSU though, was able rebound from that defeat, posting a 65-62 triumph over SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday. The Bucs will now try to finish the tournament with a winning record before opening their home slate against Wingate on Thursday. As for Hofstra, it started its season with a setback, dropping a 98-69 decision to Clemson on Friday. The Pride though, put that defeat behind it quickly and bounced back with a 71-68 overtime win over Western Michigan on Saturday. Following this game Hofstra will return home to host Old Westbury on November 24th. Today's game mark the first-ever meeting between ETSU and Hofstra on the hardwood.

The Bucs knocked down 42.1 percent of their field goal attempts and controlled the boards, 49-36, in their three-point win over SIUE on Saturday. It was a nice improvement for ETSU, which shot just 36.3 percent from the floor in an opening loss to Temple. The Bucs, though, have yet to find their touch at the foul line, going a combined 23-of-43 through the first two games. Kevin Tiggs led the way for ETSU on Saturday, scoring 19 points and grabbing six boards. It was a step forward for Tiggs, who logged just nine points in the team's opener. Courtney Pigram notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds last game, while Mike Smith had 10 points and nine boards. Both players were productive in the opener as well, with Pigram posting 18 points and Smith finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Hofstra converted on 28-of-41 free-throw attempts and won the battle on the boards, 60-52, as it nipped WMU in overtime on Saturday. The free throws and advantage on the glass helped compensate for a horrific 28.6 percent shooting effort from the field. It was the second straight poor shooting performance by the Pride, who made just 31.8 percent of its field goal in an opening loss to Clemson. Charles Jenkins led the charge, as he poured in 19 points and six boards. It was another strong effort by Jenkins, who also paced the team with 21 points in the opener. After being limited to just five points by Clemson, Tony Dennison tallied 18 points against WMU, while Dane Johnson notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The Pride has yet to find its shooting touch, so go with the Bucs, who have been more consistent from the field.

Predicted Outcome

East Tennessee State 68, Hofstra 60
