Chicago, IL -- (Sports Network) - Will Walker scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds to give DePaul a 67-63 victory over instate rival Illinois- Chicago. Dar Tucker added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Mac Koshwal scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 boards for DePaul (2-0). Josh Mayo, who came into the game averaging 20.0 ppg, scored 23 points, but he struggled from three-point range, hitting just 3-of-11 from behind the arc for UIC (1-2). Scott Vandermeer had 12 points in the loss. DePaul led 34-33 at halftime. The Blue Demons hit on just 3-of-9 three- pointers in the opening stanza, while UIC made just two-of-nine from beyond the arc. Despite making all eight of its shots from the foul line in the second half, UIC just could not get its long range shooting on track, as the Flames were 2- of-13 from long range en route to the loss. The Blue Demons outrebounded the Flames, 49-37, helping DePaul overcome a high total of 24 turnovers.
