Hoffman Estates, IL -- (Sports Network) - Marcus Johnson scored 16 points, including 8-for-8 from the foul line, as the Dayton Flyers squeaked by the Auburn Tigers, 60-59, in overtime as part of the Chicago Invitational. Chris Wright posted a double-double, his second in as many games, with 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Flyers (5-0), who also got eight points from Stephen Thomas off the bench. DeWayne Reed scored a game-high 22 for the Tigers (3-2) in a losing effort. Korvotney Barber and Tay Waller tallied 10 points a piece, with Barber also collecting a team-high nine rebounds. Both teams were pathetic shooting the ball in the first half, as Auburn hit 29 percent from the field and Dayton 28 percent, but the Flyers took a 26-21 lead into the locker room. Dayton's struggles continued in the second half, as the team made just 6-of-28 shots (.210 percent) from the floor which allowed the Tigers to claw back into the game and tie the tilt at 47. Neither team scored a single point in the final 3:14 of regulation as the game went into overtime. The Flyers scored the first five points of overtime and never looked back in the one-point victory. Dayton was 0-24 from three-point range but was able to overcome a horrific shooting performance thanks in large part to 20 Auburn turnovers that led to 18 points. Dayton's 15 turnovers led to only seven Auburn points which was the difference in the game.
