GAME NOTES: The Toledo Rockets will try to capture their first win of the new season when they battle the Cleveland State Vikings in the second road of the CBE Classic at FIU Arena. The Vikings snapped a two-game losing skid with a a solid 72-62 victory over St. Leo this past Monday. It was just the second win of the year for CSU, which started the season with a slim, 58-55 victory over Oakland. As for the Rockets, they have been extremely ineffective, losing their first three contests of the season. Yesterday, the team was on the floor, Toledo suffered a tough, 50-46 setback to Florida International. After this matchup the Rockets will face West Georgia and UMBC. In terms of the all- time series between the two schools on the hardwood, the Rockets hold a 5-1 edge over Cleveland State.

The Vikings might have two victories on the season, but the team has been ineffective offensively, as Cleveland State is netting just 63.0 ppg, while shooting a terrible 38.3 percent from the floor. Norris Cole has been the main option for CSU, as the guard is scoring 14.8 ppg. Despite shooting just 36.5 percent from the field, J'Nathan Bullock is the team's second-best threat and is netting 13.5 ppg to go along with 7.3 rpg. D'Aundray Brown rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.0 ppg and is also leading the team with 7.5 rpg. The last time CSU was on the court the team shot a solid 50.0 percent from the field en route to a win over St. Leo. However, Bullock was the only player in double-figures for CSU as the guard tallied 22 points to go along with nine rebounds. Cedric Jackson added eight points, and eight assists, but also had six turnovers, while Cole also chipped in eight points.

Toledo has been pitiful on offense this season, as the team is averaging a mere 56.3 ppg, while shooting a lackluster 40.6 percent from the floor. Tyrone Kent has been the main scoring threat for Toledo, as the guard is posting 19.3 ppg. The only other player netting double figures is Jonathan Amos, as the guard is chipping in 14.3 ppg, but that comes along with his team-high 19 turnovers. The offensive woes for Toledo were evident on Monday, as the team shot just 38.5 percent in the loss to FIU. The Rockets made just 4-of-12 three-point attempts, and committed a whopping 25 turnovers in the loss. Anthony Byrd led the way with 14 points in the contest, while Amos tallied 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, but also eight turnovers. As for Kent, he was horrendous, netting just 1-of-9 shots, while finishing the game with eight points.

The Rockets have been dreadful to start the year, and there is no reason to believe the team is capable of making the right adjustments. Until Toledo can prove it can score points look, for the team to continue to lose.

Predicted Outcome

Cleveland State 67, Toledo 55
