GAME NOTES: The Wright State Raiders will try to find their way into the win column for the first time this season when they take on the Central Michigan Chippewas this evening at Rose Arena in Mount Pleasant. This is only the second contest of the season for Wright State, which opened with a tough 69-61 loss to Illinois State. The Raiders are coming off an impressive season in which they collected 21 victories, while finishing 12-6 in Horizon League action. As for the Chippewas, they opened the new campaign with a 55-53 win over Princeton, but since then the team has dropped back-to-back decisions. The most recent loss came on Thursday, as the Chippewas fell to Chicago State, 84-74. It does not get any easier for CMU after this matchup, as the team will be on the road for three consecutive games. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools, the Chippewas hold a slim 5-3 edge over Wright State.

The Raiders did not perform well at the offensive end of the floor in their season opener, as they shot just 39.2 percent and that included a poor 5-of-20 showing from behind the arc. Vaughn Duggins, who averaged 13.8 ppg this past season, led the way in the loss to Illinois State, netting 12 points to go along with six rebounds. Cooper Land added 12 points off the bench for Wright State, while Troy Tabler chipped in nine points. Todd Brown, who averaged 12.7 ppg last season, struggled in the setback, netting just 2-of-6 attempts, finishing the game with a mere seven points.

The Chippewas' slow start can be attributed to their terrible play at the offensive end of the floor, as CMU is currently netting 62.0 ppg. Chris Kellermann has been the main scoring threat for the Chippewas in the early going, averaging 16.7 ppg while also grabbing 7.0 rpg. Jeremy Allen is the only other player averaging double figures for Central Michigan, as the guard is posting 13.0 ppg. In their recent 10-point loss to Chicago State, the Chippewas shot 50.9 percent from the floor, but went just 7-of-21 from long range and committed 22 turnovers. Adrian Hunter led the way with 18 points in his first action of the season, while Jacolby Hardiman contributed 17 points to go with seven rebounds. Kellermann tallied 15 points and pulled down six caroms, while Allen chipped in with a dozen points.

The Chippewas might be 1-2 on the year, but the team has performed well at times, and should be able to slip past a weak Wright State squad today. Expect Kellermann to dominate the Raiders in the paint.

Predicted Outcome

Central Michigan 69, Wright State 64
