Anaheim, CA -- (Sports Network) - Patrick Mills tallied 21 points and dished out six assists, as the Saint Mary's Gaels downed the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 79-54, in the second round of the 76 Classic at the Anaheim Convention Center. Omar Samhan notched a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Gaels (4-1), while Diamon Simpson recorded one of his own with 12 points and a game-best 17 boards. Carlin Hughes even got involved, netting 11 points in the win. Josh Akognon led the Titans (2-4) and all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-17 field goals. Marcio Lassiter was the only other player to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points. Despite shooting just 32.0 percent from the floor in the opening period, the Gaels were able to carry a 36-28 lead to the break. In the second half, the Gaels made 7-of-16 shots from long distance, as they pulled away for the 25-point victory. Saint Mary's simply dominated the boards, 54-32, including a 26-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
