GAME NOTES: The regular season comes to an end tonight for a pair of Big West Conference teams, as the Cal State Northridge Matadors host the Cal Poly Mustangs at the Matadome. It's been an up-and-down season for Cal Poly, as the Mustangs never managed to string together consecutive wins and they come into tonight's bout with a 12-16 ledger. The Mustangs have managed to post victories in two of their last three, however, including a 68-62 final at Long Beach State on Thursday night that improved the team's mark in league play to 7-8. As for CS Northridge, it can clinch the BWC regular season title tonight, coming into the matchup tied with UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton with an 11-4 conference record. The Matadors have however, lost two straight, including a 77-66 setback against UCSB on Thursday to fall to 19-9 overall this season. Cal Poly leads the all-time series with Northridge by a 43-37 margin.

Cal Poly held Long Beach State to a mere 37.3 percent from the field, including 6-of-17 from long range during Thursday's six-point victory. The Mustangs shot just 41.4 percent themselves, but added an 11-of-14 effort at the charity stripe. Lorenzo Keeler posted a game-high 22 points to pace the Mustangs, and Trae Clark added 10 points. The Mustangs average just 63.4 ppg this season, mostly due to a lackluster 40.6 shooting effort as a team. Clark and Keeler represent the only players to average double digits in scoring this year, as the duo is responsible for 10.5 and 10.3 ppg, respectively.

The Matadors average a solid 77.7 ppg this season, and pull down 37.3 rpg. The club is shooting 45.8 percent from the floor as a team, and boasts four players with a double-digit scoring average. Deon Tresvant leads the Matadors with 13.8 ppg, followed by Jonathan Heard and his 11.3 ppg. Heard also owns a team-best 5.7 rpg, while Josh Jenkins and Calvin Chitwood have been responsible for 10.5 and 10.4 ppg, respectively. The Matadors connected on just 40.0 percent of their attempts from field, including 5-of-21 from beyond the arc during Thursday's 11-point loss to UCSB. The Matadors were guilty of 18 turnovers and were outrebounded by a 34-31 margin. Tresvant scored 25 points off the bench to pace Northridge, while Jenkins added 12 in the losing effort.

Northridge has struggled of late, but the home crowd and a mediocre Cal Poly club may be just what the Matadors need to break out of their late-season swoon.

Predicted Outcome

Cal State Northridge 80, Cal Poly 62
