Evanston, IL -- (Sports Network) - Kevin Coble scored 14 points to lead the Northwestern Wildcats to a 59-43 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders in a non-conference battle at the Welsh-Ryan Arena.

John Shurna added 10 points and seven rebounds for Northwestern (4-1), while Kyle Rowley and Craig Moore also contributed 10 points apiece in the win.

Christian Soto and Brandon Dowdy netted 12 points apiece in the loss for UC Riverside (4-2).

The Wildcats limited UC Riverside to a woeful 24.0 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a commanding, 32-14 advantage.

Northwestern coasted in the second stanza, netting 45.5 percent of its attempts from the field en route to the 16-point win.

The Wildcats shot 44.7 percent from the field in the contest and also won the battle on the glass, 37-29.
