Cheney, WA -- (Sports Network) - Benny Valentine scored 21 points to lead the Eastern Washington Eagles to a 78-64 victory over the UC Irvine Anteaters in non-conference action.

Andy Genao pitched in 14 points and 10 rebounds for Eastern Washington (4-2), which got 10 points from Milan Stanojevic.

Brett Lauer tallied 16 points in the loss for UC Irvine (0-5). Eric Wise, Kevin Bland and Michael Hunter all scored 13 points for the Anteaters, and Bland also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Eastern Washington connected on 5-of-9 three-point attempts in the first half and led 32-31 at intermission.

The Eagles sealed the victory with 54.2 percent field goal efficiency over the final 20 minutes, and a 19-of-25 effort from the foul line in that second half certainly helped the cause.

Eastern Washington only commited eight turnovers in the contest and earned a 38-31 rebounding advantage.
