Irvine, CA -- (Sports Network) - Tajuan Porter scored a team-high 23 points in leading the Oregon Ducks to an 84-77 win over the UC-Irvine Anteaters in non- conference play at the Bren Events Center. Porter shot 4-of-7 from the field and converted all 12 of his free-throw opportunities for the Ducks (2-1), while LeKendric Longmire and Joevan Catron accounted for 12 points apiece. Michael Dunigan played just 20 minutes, yet finished with 11 points and a team-best seven rebounds. The Anteaters (0-3) were led by Kevin Bland who tallied a career-high 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting off the bench, while Eric Wise accounted for 16 points and Zack Atkinson ripped down a game-high 10 rebounds in the losing effort. UCI had a rough time shooting the ball in the first half at just 37 percent, allowing the Ducks to take a 39-34 edge at the break. In the second half both teams shot 62.5 percent from the floor, but the difference was that Oregon made good on 5-of-10 out on the perimeter and 10- of-13 at the free-throw line to take the seven-point win. In addition to converting an impressive 11-of-19 behind the three-point line, the Ducks also won the battle of the boards (34-27) to help overcome 16 turnovers.
