California (5-0) Vs. Florida State (6-0)

Saturday, November 29th, 10:30 p.m. (et).

FACTS & STATS: Site: Thomas & Mack Center (18,500) -- Las Vegas, Nevada. Television: None. Home Record: Cal 4-0, FSU 3-0. Away Record: Cal 0-0, FSU 2-0. Neutral Record: Cal 1-0, FSU 1-0. Conference Record: Cal 0-0, FSU 0-0. Series Record: First-ever meeting.

GAME NOTES: A couple of undefeated programs hit the floor at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas for the final round of the Global Sports Classic tonight, as the California Golden Bears and the Florida State Seminoles settle their differences on the hardwood. FSU has managed to cruise to a perfect 6-0 mark on the backs of some questionable competition, but on Friday the team showed that it could handle some of the bigger programs by defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats in third-round action by a final of 58-47. As for the Golden Bears, their road to 5-0 has been rather easy as well, starting with a double-digit win over Pacific in the opener and then continuing with a 73-55 triumph over UNLV in its own building yesterday. This game marks the first-ever meeting between these two programs on the basketball court.

In addition to knocking down 55.6 percent from the floor in the first half, California also limited UNLV to a mere eight field goals in the frame, making it that much easier for the visitors to pick up the win. Jerome Randle led five players in double figures with his 18 points, followed by Jamal Boykin with his 15 points and eight boards. Theo Robertson and Patrick Christopher both added 12 points and Jorge Gutierrez 10 points and five rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench. One of four players scoring in double figures in the early going, Randle leads the squad with his 19.4 ppg, shooting an incredible 16-of-22 behind the three-point line (.727). Because of Randle, the team as a whole has managed to convert an eye-popping 60.7 percent beyond the arc, compared to a paltry 32.9 percent for the competition. What's more, Cal is shooting just 52.7 percent from the floor overall while putting on this ridiculous display out on the perimeter.

Florida State allowed the Bearcats to stick around in the first half on Friday, but then the Seminoles dialed up the defense, limiting UC to a mere eight field goals after the break and also watched as its foe made only 6- of-11 at the free-throw line in the frame. Ryan Reid and Chris Singleton both hit for double figures with their 14 and 10 points, respectively, while Toney Douglas tried to offset his 3-of-10 shooting and five turnovers with eight points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Not much of an offensive team for the most part, averaging 68.3 ppg so far this season, Florida State gets what it needs out of Douglas (17.5 ppg) and Singleton (10.8 ppg), with the latter also handling the action in the paint with 7.8 rpg when he's not sitting on the sidelines because of foul trouble. Limiting opponents to only 37 percent from the field and 29.2 percent beyond the arc has been the calling card of this group so far.

This should be an interesting matchup between a team that flourishes behind the three-point line and one that tends to lock opponents down all over the floor. In a case like this defense tends to prevail so lean in favor of the Seminoles tonight.

Predicted Outcome
