Cal Forward Anderson Makes Himself Eligible For NBA Draft

POSTED: 7:10 pm EDT April 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - California sophomore forward Ryan Anderson announced Thursday that he has made himself eligible for the 2008 NBA Draft.

Anderson said he does not plan to sign with an agent, giving him the option to return to the Golden Bears for his junior year.

"I am excited to have the chance to see where I stand in the eyes of NBA scouts," Anderson said. "This is a great opportunity for me to get out there and get feedback on my game and see what I need to work on to improve myself as a player. I am still attending classes, so this will not affect my standing at Cal; I will use the information I gain from this experience to make a more educated decision on my basketball future."

The 6-foot-10 forward led the Pac-10 Conference in scoring with 21.1 points per game this past season, along with averaging 9.9 rebounds per contest.

Anderson, a first-team all Pac-10 selection, has until June 16 to withdraw his name from the draft, which will be held June 26 in New York.
