NCAA Game Summary - Niagara At Buffalo

(Sports Network) - Tyrone Lewis scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Niagara Purple Eagles to a 65-61 victory over the Buffalo Bulls in a non-conference battle at Alumni Arena.

Benson Egemonye added 11 points for Niagara (3-1), while Bilal Benn tallied 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Rodney Pierce netted 16 points and collected seven boards for Buffalo (2-2), while Mitchell Watt contributed 13 points in the loss. Greg Gamble chipped in 11 points for Buffalo, while also collecting eight boards to go along with six assists.

The Purple Eagles limited Buffalo to a 38.7 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 42-31 lead.

Despite shooting a horrid 26.9 percent from the field in the second stanza, the Purple Eagles were able to hold on for a four-point win.

Neither team shot well in the contest, as Niagara made just 33.9 percent of its attempts, while Buffalo connected on just 35.0 percent of its shots from the floor.
