Pocatello, ID -- (Sports Network) - Jonathan Tavernari posted a game-high 23 points, leading four players in double figures, as the BYU Cougars recorded an 85-65 win over the Idaho State Bengals in non-conference action at Holt Arena. Jimmer Fredette chipped in 19 points and handed out six assists for the Cougars (6-0) as they remained undefeated, followed by Lee Cummard and Jackson Emery with 17 and 15 points, respectively. The Bengals (1-4) were led by Matt Stucki who tallied 19 points, handed out five assists and grabbed four rebounds in the setback. ISU led by six in the first half, but then the Cougars began to hit their shots and converted 55.6 percent from the floor in the period to claim a 40-28 advantage at the break. In the second half BYU continued to shoot the ball well at a 57.7 percent clip, adding 11-of-15 at the free-throw line to secure the 20-point road win. The Cougars finished the night shooting 56.6 percent from the field and gained an advantage as the Bengals made a mere 14-of-26 chances at the free-throw line.
