POSTED: 10:23 pm EDT March 18, 2009

(Sports Network) - P'Allen Stinnett scored 18 points and dished out six assists to lead the Creighton Bluejays to a thrilling, 73-71 victory over the Bowling Green Falcons in the first round of the NIT Tournament at the Qwest Omaha Center.

Justin Carter added 14 points and six rebounds for Creighton (27-7), while Antoine Young and Booker Woodfox tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Nate Miller posted 22 points for BGSU (19-14), while Darryl Clements registered 19 points to go along with eight rebounds. Brian Moten chipped in 12 points in the losing effort.

The Falcons held Creighton to a meager 34.4 percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening frame and went into the break with a 39-31 lead.

However, the Bluejays soared back, shooting a sizzling 63.6 percent from the field over the last 20 minutes of play to claim the two-point win.

Creighton connected on 18-of-22 foul shots in the contests, while BGSU made only 8-of-12 shots from the charity stripe.

The Bluejays will now host Kentucky in the second round of the NIT on Monday.
