Cleveland, OH -- (Sports Network) - Brett McKnight scored 14 points to guide the fifth-seeded Akron Zips to a 63-55 upset of the top-seeded Bowling Green Falcons in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena. Darryl Roberts turned in 12 point and five boards for Akron (22-12), which will meet third-seeded Buffalo in the finals on Saturday. Nate Linhart notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Chris McKnight pulled in a game-high 14 caroms. BGSU (19-13) was paced by Nate Miller, who poured in a career-high 27 points and made 5-of-8 shots from long range. The Falcons shot a horrific 20.0 percent from the floor in the first half and that allowed the Zips to take a 28-17 lead to the locker room. In the second half, Akron went 16-of-21 at the charity stripe to secure the eight-point win. The Zips dominated the boards, 43-26, as they advanced to their third straight title game appearance.
