Bowling Green (13-14) At Buffalo (9-18)
GAME NOTES: The Bowling Green Falcons will try to build off their biggest win of the season, as they take on the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference action at Alumni Arena. Facing a Top-25 team for the first time in over six years, the Falcons didn't appear to be the least bit nervous, as they upset 23rd-ranked Kent State 89-83 on Saturday. The 89 points marked a season high for BGSU, which improved to 13-14 overall and an even 7-7 in conference play. Winners of two straight, the Falcons now hit the road, where they have gone just 4-8. As for Buffalo, it was also in play on Saturday, suffering a 76-56 setback at Akron. It was the fourth loss in five outings for the Bulls, who dipped to 9-18 overall and 2-12 in conference action. In terms of the all-time series, BGSU holds a 12-4 lead over Buffalo, including an 83-70 triumph in the first meeting back in January.
The Falcons drained 50.8 percent of their attempts from the field and 11-of-21 from downtown, as they upset Kent State on Saturday. The team also did a good job at the foul line, converting on 16-of-21 chances. Brian Moten nailed 6-of-9 three-pointers and he led BGSU with 24 points, while Joe Jakubowski notched a double-double with 21 points and 12 assists. Chris Knight turned in 10 points and nine rebounds, and Nate Miller logged nine points and 11 boards. For the season, Miller leads the club in scoring (13.3 ppg) as wells as steals (41) and he is also grabbing 6.3 rpg. Knight has provided a nice complement to him, as he contributes 10.7 ppg and a team-best 7.4 rpg. Overall, the Falcons are netting 64.7 ppg behind 44.8 percent shooting from the field.
The Bulls made just two three-pointers compared to 13 by Akron in a lopsided loss over the weekend. Buffalo was also outscored at the foul line, 23-10, and it even turned the ball over 21 times. Greg Gamble paced the team in defeat with 19 points and five boards, while Jawaan Alston had 11 points and six boards. Andy Robinson was limited to just four points, but he still remains the only player on the team averaging double figures for the season, with 12.9 ppg. He is also a solid defender, as his team-high 47 steals would indicate. As a team, the Bulls are scoring a respectable 70.4 ppg, although they are giving up 75.5 ppg.
BGSU is coming off a big win and it should be able to use that momentum to outlast a struggling Buffalo club tonight.
