Muncie, IN -- (Sports Network) - Eric McKinney posted a double-double, recording game-highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds, to lift Arkansas State over Ball State 54-53 in non-conference action at Worthen Arena. JeJuan Brown scored two of his 11 points on a layup with 1:30 remaining which proved to be the decisive bucket as the Red Wolves (4-1) won their fourth in a row. Brandon Lampley scored a team-high 18 for the Cardinals (3-2) which got 16 points and six boards from Anthony Newell in the loss. Ball State built a five-point halftime lead (32-27) on the strength of 14- of-18 at the foul line as neither team shot particularly well from the floor in the first half. ASU was able to erase the five-point deficit by holding the Cardinals to just 8-of-28 in the second half. Newell had a chance to tie the game at 54 with 20 seconds left but could not convert at the foul line, only making 1-of-2. Despite forcing 15 Arkansas State turnovers and outscoring the Red Wolves' bench 14-8, BSU could not overcome a mere 30.8 percent effort from the floor.
