Statesboro, GA -- (Sports Network) - Drake Reed posted a double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, to lead Austin Peay over Georgia Southern 77-66 in non-conference action at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Wes Channels scored 16 and had four steals for Austin Peay (3-2) which also got 12 points from Marcel Williams and a game-high 12 boards from Ernest Fields before he fouled out.

Willie Powers scored 20 points in the loss for the Eagles (2-3) and Julian Allen chipped in with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Both teams shot 50 percent or better in the first half but the Governors built a 10-point halftime lead at 40-30 on the strength of 6-of-13 from behind-the- arc.

Austin Peay continued its strong shooting in the second half by hitting 14- of-29 shots from the floor, while GSU struggled making just 37.5 percent of its shots.

Despite turning the ball over 18 times, Austin Peay was able to take control of the game by dominating the glass, outrebounding the Eagles 45-25.
