Give Room Updated Look With New Floor
Best Sales Aren't Advertised

CLEVELAND -- Give a room a whole new look, at a low cost, by getting a new floor.
NewsChannel5's Troubleshooter Chris Caswell reported in this week's Betcha Didn't Know that the best deals aren't always advertised.
Austin Calvetta, president of the Floor Show in Bedford, said to ask the right questions.
"Most people will come in and say 'Do you have a remnants room?' if they're looking, or "Where are your discontinueds?'" Calvetta said.
Remnant rooms have the leftover carpet from someone else's order, and you can buy it at cost. Also, savings is available if the shop accidentally ordered the wrong style or color for another customer.
"I probably have a couple hundred feet, again it was misordered, so we'll sell it at $2 a square foot to get it out of here," Calvetta said.
According to Calvetta, when covering larger areas, ask for flooring ordered in bulk. Normally, berber costs about $27 a yard, but buying in bulk it would only be $20 a yard.
The best selection of carpet remnants comes at the end of summer, right before college starts. But shop around for the best selection, Calvetta said.
