Move over Hummer, here comes something really big.
International CXT (Commercial Extreme Truck)

International is unveiling its new pickup, the largest ever. The International CXT is nearly twice the size of a Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup -- and it makes full-size SUV's look like Mini Coopers.

It's the first pickup from the commercial vehicle company in three decades. The truck, that the company calls the world's biggest production pickup, is being produced in Texas.

Born out of a 20-ton hauler and other International severe service trucks used by the construction, government and waste industries, the International CXT is built on the same platform as dump trucks and snowplows.

The front of the CXT looks like International's other heavy duty trucks. But it can seat five and boosts such creature comforts as a flat screen TVs, DVD players, leather seats, a fold-down bench that can be used as a bed and a satellite radio system.

The company says the truck hauls three times the payload of consumer pickup trucks, is all-wheel drive, uses air brakes and offers towing, dumping and tilt bed capability.

Would you consider buying a CXT?

Rob Swim, International's marketing director, said the monster pickup will appeal to image-conscious contractors and other small business owners.

"While there is nothing tougher or more extreme on the market than the International CXT, it is as much a statement of success as it is performance. If you brought this truck to the playground, you'd be king of the dirt pile," Swim said.

But they'll need thick wallets. Prices for the CXT start at more than $90,000 and can easily top $100,000 with options. Then there's the cost of a fill-up. The truck gets just 7 mpg of diesel.

International officials expect to sell nearly 100 CXT's this year. To learn more about this monster of a truck, click here.
