Ford Mighty F-350 Tonka Concept
Big Boy's Toy
CHICAGO -- Remember those trucks you used to play with as a child? Ford hopes the Mighty F-350 Tonka Concept will rekindle those memories.
For example, the suspension features hydraulic lifts. When you open the doors, the truck lowers itself 5 inches to make getting in and out easier.
Speaking of the doors, the two rear doors are hinged at the back, and there is no pillar between the front and back doors. Both are designed to make entry and exit simpler.
Power comes from a concept diesel V8 engine. The monstrous 6.0 liter, 32-valve engine cranks out 350 horsepower and an astonishing 600 pound feet of torque.
The truck also incorporates a system called Hydraulic Launch Assist. Basically, the system stores power lost when decelerating in a hydraulic pump. That energy is then released when the truck accelerates.
Which of these features will make their way to your next truck? Stay tuned to find out.
