Police continue to look for a man who fled from officers in woods near Interstate 271 and Old Eight and Highland roads on Sunday.

Richfield police spotted a green Chevrolet Blazer used in a theft in Akron traveling on I-77 northbound at about 12:30 p.m.

The SUV entered I-271 northbound, where officers from the Richfield and the Peninsula police departments attempted to stop the vehicle. The occupants refused to stop for about one-quarter mile, when they suddenly jumped and ran from the vehicle into the woods along the interstate.

Officers from several departments, including the Peninsula Police Department, Macedonia Police Department, Northfield Police Department, Summit County Sheriff's Office, Boston Heights Police Department, National Park Service Rangers, Summit County Metro Parks Rangers, Oakwood Village Police Department K-9, Brunswick Police Department K-9 and the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Wing helped in the search.

After an extensive search, one of two suspects was apprehended at 4:06 p.m.

Deion N. Porter, 28, of Cleveland was taken into custody and transported to the Richfield Municipal Jail and treated by paramedics to guard against dehydration. He was then turned over to the Portage County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding felony warrant for cocaine sales.

The second person remains at large and has not yet been identified.

Charges are also expected for the theft that occurred within the city of Akron.
