An Akron man pleaded guilty Monday to charges in connection with a February robbery attempt.

Michael Kaminski, 41, is charged with robbery, a third-degree felony.

Police said Kaminski approached two employees of Highland Square Video and Primo Tanning behind the businesses. He had a scarf over his face and his hand in his coat, as though he was a weapon, police said.

Police said scuffle ensued and the employees were able to hold the man until police arrived.

The man's weapon turned out to be a bottle of Stetson cologne shaped like a pistol, police said.

Kaminski was sentenced to incarceration at the Community-Based Correction Facility as part of two years of probation. A five-year prison sentence was suspended.
