AKRON, Ohio -- Too much snow and allegedly too little patience resulted in one man being killed and another man being charged in his death, officials said.

Police said that two Akron men fought throughout the night over a parked car. Tempers apparently flared, and now a 72-year-old man is charged with murder, reported NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen.

Neal Shafer, 56, died from stab wounds, and police said Robert Hudson is responsible.

The two men lived at the Miller Motel on South Main Street beneath Johnny's Nite Club, which features female dancers.

Police said Hudson wanted Shafer to move his car so the city could plow, but Shafer refused. The men apparently fought, and Hudson was taken to an area hospital.

"He leaves Akron General; he goes back to his apartment. Instead of going to his apartment, he goes to the 56-year-old's apartment or hotel room, and he assaults the 56-year old and then he's transported to Akron General," said Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards.

Police said that when Shafer returned to the motel, Hudson was in the lobby waiting on him and there was a third fight that ended in Shafer's death.

Other tenants find it hard to believe that the senior citizen who collected rent could allegedly kill.

"He's pretty nice, easy-going. He's hard to rile. He's the last person in the world you'd think would do anything," said tenant Thomas Fox.

Late Friday afternoon, Shafer's car was still in front of the motel with snow around it. Police and tenants said it's a shame someone died allegedly over a parked car.

One resident said he heard a noise outside his room but didn't pay any attention to it.
