Stop Makeup From Melting In Summer Heat
You Can Create Sheer Look And Still Protect Skin
CLEVELAND -- If you're still applying makeup the way that you did last winter, it's time for a change.
While you may not want to opt for the bare essentials during the summer, you can create a sheer look and protect your skin at the same time. NewsChannel5 consulted expert Jean Russo for summer makeup advice."You really want to lighten up; you don't need all that makeup," Russo said.Although that's sound advice, most women don't want to walk around with a naked face in the heat. There are solutions to several basic summer makeup problems."Some people in the summer put on eye shadow and because of the heat, the eye shadow will start sliding off their face or start smearing," Russo said.So what's the solution?"There are great products called eye shadow bases," she said. "You put them on before putting color on, and they keep (the) color true and keep (the) color from moving so it stays put all day."Summer foundation should be light and provide sun protection.
"They're concerned about sun protection and color, but they don’t want a heavy foundation," Russo said. "So we suggest a tinted moisturizer, which will give you color and SPF protection, which is the most important thing."But you don't want to ignore the rest of your body.Self-tanner is sure to give you an all-around glow, especially if you apply it correctly."You want to exfoliate first, grab any areas," she said. "When you put self-tanner on, do it at night. Within an hour, she can go to bed."Self-tanner usually lasts three to four days before it needs to be reapplied.
