CLEVELAND -- If you are concerned about saturated fat, you may be cutting back on meat.
According to Troubleshooter Chris Caswell, a meat substitute is likely to hit the store shelves by the end of the year.
Many think that it is delicious.
The meat substitute is called Quorn and it will be sold in health food stores and some supermarkets.
"They've actually been available in Europe for the last 17 years," said Kim Kleman of Consumer Reports. "They're finally available here."
Quorn is actually made from mushrooms and egg whites, Caswell said.
"It's a source of protein, but unlike meat, Quorn is a good source of fiber and has no cholesterol," Kleman said.
Consumer Reports put Quorn to the taste test.
"The chicken-style tenders and beef-style grounds were bland on their own, but when we added them to recipes, as is recommended, the taste improved," Kleman said.
The testers also found that Quorn could pass for real chicken nuggets.
A package of Quorn with four servings costs about $4.
