MEDINA, Ohio -- How could a Medina father forget that he left his 9-month-old baby locked in a hot car for more than two hours?
NewsChannel5's Tracy Carloss reported that according to the family, it was a horrific accident.
Tyler Costello died Monday after being strapped in his car seat inside a hot car outside his father's workplace.
Gail and Joanne Ramsey said their brother-in-law was supposed to drop off his son at the baby sitter's house before going to work.
They said it was not part of his daily routine, and he rushed out of the car without his baby.
"He is absolutely devastated," Gail Ramsey said. "It will be a long time before he comes to terms with this. He wishes it was him -- those were his words."
The family was supposed to gather this weekend for a wedding, but now they'll be planning a funeral, NewsChannel5 reported.
Police are waiting for results from the coroner's office before determining whether any charges will be filed.
