  • Shanksville: Opening ceremony of Boulevard of Heroes station
  • 8:46 a.m.: Washington: White House ceremony marks first impact on World Trade Center with moment of silence.

    New York: Ground Zero ceremony has moment of silence, followed by reading of the Gettysburg Address, and the reading of victims' names. Victims' family members will be invited to descend ramp to place roses in their memory. This event is expected to continue past 10:30.

    London: Candle-lighting at St. Paul's Cathedral

    Boston: Acting Governor Jane Swift begins ceremony at Statehouse, (time hijacked plane from Logan Airport hit tower)
  • 9:00 a.m.: Washington: Pentagon memorial ceremony begins. Event is expected to include remarks by President Bush, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, and General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

    New York: Ground Zero ceremony continues
  • 9:37 a.m.: Washington: Moment of silence at Pentagon to mark the attack on that building.

    New York: Ground Zero ceremony continues

    Shanksville: Ceremony at Stonycreek, Bell ringing and concert, until 11 a.m.
  • 10 a.m. Washington: Presidential remarks

    New York: Ground Zero ceremony continues
  • 10:29 am: New York: Moment of silence marking attack on second tower. Trinity Church bells ring, joined by houses of worship throughout the city.
  • 9 p.m.: President George W. Bush is expected to address the nation
